Sendai 8.9 Earthquake

On Friday, March 11, 2011, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake shook Japan. The epicenter was 80 miles east of Sendai. The force was so strong that it triggered a 10 tsunami that wiped out the coastal region in Miyagi, Fukushima, and other neighboring prefectures.

I first heard of it on Thursday night when Lisa called me and stayed up until the early morning and well into the next day, trying to gather information of the whereabouts of my Sendai friends and family.

As of March 12th, I've heard back from everyone except for Nana (friend), Takehito (Miyagi-Zao host family), Aoe (friend), Dr. Tomizawa (dentist), and tutor Mr. Ohta. All schools have been accounted for and there have been zero casualties reported

After immersing myself with news I had to take a break and watched an amazing basketball game between the Golden State Warriors and the Orland Magic. The overtime game set a record for the most 3-pt. shots made in a game. It was nice to get away for a little bit.

My thoughts and prayers are with all affected by the quake. Let's pray that we can hear good news from the people we still haven't been able to get in contact with.
